What's new in PerfectDisk build 7.00.042

• Clarified some of the boot-time defragmentation messages.
• Changed PerfectDisk's boot time defragmentation code to be consistent with changes made to check disk (chkdsk.exe) in Windows XP, Service Pack 2.
• Corrected a bug in the boot time defragmentation. PerfectDisk records the current time on shutdown and compares it to the system time at reboot. On Windows XP, Service Pack 2, the system time at reboot can be earlier then the system time at shutdown. Raxco was unaware that Microsoft was able to travel back in time.
• Some code segments were changed to be consistent with PerfectDisk Live.

Aircraft trouble my music

Again planes seem to be using the alternate runway since a week. Its bad enough the noise of their passage starts at 2330 and lasts all night, low flying aircraft also mess up the reception of my Worldspace radio. Ugly glitches in the music late at night are really irritating.

Sleep less live longer?

Thats what this article at FOXNews seems to say.

The Cancer Prevention Study II even showed that people with serious insomnia or who only get 3.5 hours of sleep per night live longer than people who get more than 7.5 hours.

• Do not take sleeping pills. This includes over-the-counter pills and melatonin.


• Don't go to bed until you're sleepy. If you have trouble sleeping, try going to bed later or getting up earlier.


• Get up at the same time every morning, even after a bad night's sleep. The next night, you'll be sleepy at bedtime.


• If you wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back to sleep, get out of bed and return only when you are sleepy.


• Avoid worrying, watching TV, reading scary books and doing other things in bed besides sleeping and sex. If you worry, read thrillers or watch TV, do that in a chair that's not in the bedroom.


• Do not drink or eat anything caffeinated within six hours of bedtime.


• Avoid alcohol. It's relaxing at first, but can lead to insomnia when it clears your system.


• Spend time outdoors. People exposed to daylight or bright light therapy sleep better.

Flash used heavily. Even spills over the products and expects u to minimize it or wait till they finish. Doesnt like Firefox.
Their 'Tornado Compacta' is really good looking but overpriced.
Its not all bad, these guys have a truly good service network.

The LG website was very sensible. Even allowing comparisons between products. And the prices are so right. Other than vacuums the rest of their products have a huge variety of models. I counted 9 models of front load washing machine!
Mailed them... got an automated reply instantly. Very good format. Repeated what I had asked for and gave some background of the company too. Only bad bit was it came from lgezbuysales@oriondialog.com. That Oriondialog bit should not have happened.

Modi Hoover seemed like a good idea. I have used Hoover products and they have a very long life. But the Modi Hoover website itself sucks. They have no dealer list. Iit all looks so much like a 1st attempt at a website. I mailed them lets see how long it takes to get a reply... if at all.

Siemens Inda is is very sad. Took me a search to figure out I need to visit another site for home appliances, and from their in turn go to the south Asia Siemens site. No pricing. Product visually almost identical to LG even in color! They have a showroom nearby and an agent too. Has a phone number & mail... Not going to try mail again. Phone em tomorow.

aacPlus

Somehow I never noticed aacPlus. When did that happen? And does it really matter? If I understand right its only fun if I have an XM sattelite radio. Winamp supports it but not iTunes (and hence not iPod)
If its smaller but better, then why is it not on portable devices. Perhaps price? A free decoding library FAAD2 supports it, but the AudioCoding website has a link that says u got to talk to nero for commercial licensing.

Shock Absorber

Next time you watch someone run for a train you will remember this site - Shock Absorber. Its all about physics of cource. Now I may be silly, but BOSE (yes the sound people) were working on a active car suspension. Now maybe a scaled down version of that with the product above...

Lint Collection

My washing machine has this little lint filter, that gets filled with fluffy stuff after a wash. Starting today I have decided to collect the lint. Lets see how much collects after a year. If I am allowed to maintain the collection that long.

Apples got a boom box. But its supposed to be audiophile quality :P. How do you get audiophile quality after putting both channels in the same box is beyond me. This smells like BOSE.
