Google Toolbar 4

Google has an update for their toolbar. New features here.
If everyone keeps installing toolbars we will have very little browset space left to actually browse in. Maybe like Gaim for IM soon someone will have this all in one toolbar that lets you use the features of Google/Yahoo/Stumbleupon/digg/microsoft toolbars.

Hours of reading

This may be even more fun than Snopes. The Museum of Hoaxes has some fun stuff.
In particular see the photo gallery.

Google everywhere

Google apps going to be pre installed in USB drives. But that assumes we all use the same OS?

Tokiwa.
And here are some, at Smart PC Tools, you got to look around a bit, they are mixed with some pay stuff. The webpage does not look very good, but the software may be fine.

20 Years after Challenger

September 11 - The Soundtrack?

This is very weird. The Gaurdian has an article on a guy who has taken sesmic recordings from the September 11 attack on the towers, shifted the frequencies up and made a CD out of it.

Bhaji on the beach

This strange looking patch is Methi (Fenugreek) growning on Versova Beach. The holes are for the guy to get to the middle of the patch for watering and cleaning. Posted by Picasa

Blog Tool

I keep playing about with blog tools. Today I have installed Performancing. Wish I knew what this name is about. It lets me blog from within Firefox. Quite nice. Miss a few things from W.Bloggar, but its nice to use at machines that have a restriction on adding software.

I Pod Mixer

Numark has a mixer just for I Pod. Quite daft. Everybody bring ur iPod for the party and plug in.

Slim Devices : Squeezebox

The squeezebox (I dont understand the reason for the name) from Slim Devices looks real good. Look at the options available in the display. These guys care. Read review on Pocketnow.com. I wish the cheap looking plastic remote was more like the device in finish. Oh well even NAD has real horrible looking remotes now.
I am impressed by the format support:

  • Lossless Formats (Apple Lossless, FLAC, WMA Lossless)

  • Uncompressed formats (AIFF, WAV, PCM)

  • Compressed formats (MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP2, MusePack, WMA)

The MP3 playback uses MAD decoder. Its supposed to be the greatest, but frankly I could not make out the difference. :D I actually should try it with my 24-bit card.
Output is S/PDIF and Burr-Brown™ 24-bit DAC. Oooh! Tushar dont wet yourself.
Claimed THD 0.002%
Of course garbage in garbage out applies. If you are going to feed it MP3s encoded at 64 you are not going to get great sound.
Networking is wireless or wired.
The server software is Open Source. These guys have something to keep everyone happy.
Except the $250 price tag.

Who made that LAN Card?

IEEE has a page where you can search the manufacturer based on the 6 digits of the mac address. Always useful to have this around. Infact I think I will copy the txt file that can be downloaded on to my Palm
