New amp, bad connections

Prashant bough a new NAD C 352 amp and was not happy. Says it sounds to critical on many of his CDs. We have swapped amps for a few days. I alove his amp. Its much more detailed than my C 320 and the sound is some how lighter.
Even the wife likes it a lot.
The amp has a weird problem. Sometimes at start up the power LED gets locked into a red mode and then no functions via remote works until I press one of the input selector buttons twice. After that everything is normal.

My MTNL ADSL connection has been acting very silly since a few days. Strangely this coincided with the launch of their IP TV service over the same copper.
I wonder...
